LandSure Systems Ltd. (LandSure) is looking for an innovative and detailed Manager, Project Accounting to join our Finance team.

LandSure is a subsidiary of the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC (LTSA), a publicly accountable, statutory corporation that manages BC's land title and survey systems. Our team of more than 70 employees supports the LTSA through information system consulting services, project management, customer support, and communications.

What we are looking for:

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Corporate Controller, the Project Accounting Manager will manage the LTSA’s project accounting function, including all operating and capital costs, and the general purchases and payables systems. This position works closely with project managers to monitor budgets and assist with development of project forecasts. The manager provides confidential accounting support and advice to project managers in financial matters, including expense management, compliance and reporting on project costs for new business initiatives and internal information technology projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain the project accounting system
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and amendments
  •  Authorize the transfer of internal and external costs into and out of project-related accounting
  • Review supplier invoices, time sheets and related charges to be applied to projects
  • Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to project managers
  • Provide regular reports to management regarding the remaining budget available for projects
  • Ensure all deadlines are met in order to provide financial data to the Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis for project summary reports
  • Close out project accounts upon project completion
  • Manage project accounts payable
  • Manage project General Service Agreements and Purchase Orders in the financial systems
  • Review accuracy of invoice coding
  • Reviews expense reports for compliance with corporate policies
  • Provide leadership, motivation and direction to a small team

Education and Experience

  • Qualified CPA with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline
  • Five to seven years of accounting experience along with at least two years in project accounting
  • Supervisory experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to provide process analysis and improvement of financial systems and maintenance
  • Ability to apply relevant business and taxation laws and regulations within the Province of BC
  • Ability to work within a confidential environment and with sometimes tense/stressful and often high profile issues
  • Strong communication skills with ability to easily translate financial information to non-financial colleagues
  • High level of initiative, independent judgement and problem solving
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Superior organizational skills, time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to assist in the development, interpretation and training of others on financial policies and procedures
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships and lead a collaborative team
  • Excellent computer skills and fully conversant with Excel, Word and Outlook, ideally in MS Office 365
  • Experience in GP Dynamics or other ERP software would be an assetAbility to provide process analysis and improvement of financial systems and maintenance

The LTSA operates critical systems that underpin BC’s private property market, civil justice system, taxation and Crown land management frameworks.
